What are dermal fillers?

The dermal fillers are a synthesised compound designed to attract water and stimulate collagen production creating volume and hydration.

Where do they go?

Dermal fillers are injectables gels placed below the skin's surface to help diminish facial lines, restore volume, hydrate the skin and rejuvenate facial contours.

Where can they be used?

Dermal fillers can be used to improve facial lines, wrinkles and furrows as well as soften acne and surgical scars.
Lip Augmentation- to revolumise, redefine, shape and restore beautiful, natural lips. Cheek augmentation and facial contouring- ( including jawline, chin and nose) to correct the volume loss which occurs during the ageing process.

What are the benefits?

The benefits of using dermal fillers include:
* treatment of wrinkles and fine lines at depths that other methods cannot treat.
* they are naturally occurring, biocompatiable and rarely cause reactions.
* they can be dissolved if any adverse reactions occur.
* they are a non-invasive alternative to help with the early signs of ageing.

What are the risks?

Common side effects include swelling, bruising and tenderness, these are easily treated and usually subside with a few hours or days. More serious, yet rare adverse effects include infection, tissue necrosis, granuloma and biofilms. These are rare and will be treated and monitored by the doctor and nurse.

How long do dermal fillers last?

Depending on the area being treated and the type of product used, most fillers last anywhere between 6- 18 months. Re-treatment is advised at approximately 6 months to prolong the' plumping' effects of the fillers.

What can I expect from my treatment?

You will have an initial consultation with the Doctor or nurse discussing your medical history and background.
A treatment plan will be devised based on your concerns, needs and goals in refreshing and harmonising your facial features.
Pre photos will be taken and your face marked out.
Cold packs maybe used to help reduce swelling and bruising.
You may apply mineral makeup post treatment to cover redness and or bruising.
Treatment usually takes anywhere from 30-60 mins depending on areas treated.

Is it painful?

The dermal fillers used contain anaesthetic which makes the injections relatively painless. Most people rate the pain level at a 2/10.

What should I expect after treatment?

You may experience initial swelling and perhaps bruising. Unfortunately, bruising is risk as the fillers need to be injected into the skin layers. Ice packs can be used to reduce this.

We encourage clients to cease any fish oils, NSAIDs, Nurofen or Asprin 7 days prior to treatment to reduce risk of bruising.

Alcohol is not advised prior to treatment- especially red wine.

Lumpiness and an unevenness may occur, this will settle within 2-3 days even up to 10 days.
